Information for students

t+centres provides a unique environment where you can feel safe and supported to pursue your academic goals while exploring a wide range of skills and experiences. We work with you, your parents/carers and Careers South West to create a tailored curriculum to meet your individual needs and help you to fulfil your potential.

t+centres is a place where you can succeed. Our flexible approach allows us to offer you the support you need so that you can discover and build on your strengths at a pace that's right for you. Along with our main site, we have two workshops you can use for vocational subjects such as Design Technology, Woodwork and Mechanics. We also make the most of being close to the coast, offering a wide range of sporting and outdoor pursuits, including coasteering, kayaking, mountain biking, surfing and orienteering.

We realise you may be joining t+centres having experienced a wide range of difficult situations which may include negative experiences of the school environment. t+centres aims to provide a supportive environment where we help you with your behaviour, motivation, self-esteem and any other issues, as well as with your academic progress.

We focus on you as an individual, with an emphasis on trust, fair play and teamwork. Our staff team is experienced and understanding and we aim to model a respectful and healthy approach to others, developing your confidence and enhancing your life skills. t+centres offers you the security of a safe and calm environment where you can talk about how you are feeling (when you are ready) and how we can help.

UNIFORM

We want you to feel 'yourself' and comfortable while at t+centres. No uniform is required, but we do ask that you don't wear any clothing that could be seen as offensive. You may be asked to wear certain garnments, for example waterproofs, depending on the activties your timetable includes.

MOBILE PHONES

We appreciate how important modern technology is to you. We also recognise that mobile phones can be very disruptive to your learning. We ask that students hand in their phones for safe-keeping to the office at the start of the day. You can earn reward points each time you hand your phone in, and these points can be converted into vouchers of your choice.

ABSENCE

If you are unwell or unable to come to school for any reason, we ask that your parents/carers call into the centre as early as possible. Your parent/carer will also need to contact your transport provider.
