Thrive Approach

THRIVE is an intervention which helps children and young people whose progress has been limited by past difficulties, particularly emotional issues. It aims to support children’s emotional resilience, the development of their emotional regulation system and their concept of self.

It uses a range of activities which enable the child or young person to gain insights and develop skills and strategies to help them move towards a level of functioning which is age-appropriate. Particular emphasis is placed on understanding brain development and the characteristics of the adolescent brain to give increased understanding of this often turbulent stage of their lives, helping those caring for them to have an increased understanding of the typical behaviours of developmental stage. .

Art and Crafts, Music and stories are some approaches used to help the young person develop emotional understanding and move them towards developing an overview of their performance in school and understanding the complexity of their feelings.

T + has four members of staff trained in the thrive approach which is offered to schools, academies and other settings on a contracted basis, hourly or sessional across a timescale .
